2021 Locals Love Us favorite city employee: Burnet parks Supervisor Kim Wilson

Kim Wilson takes pride in her work as Burnet’s park supervisor, a job tasked with more than just taking care of the city’s parks.
She and her team of eight tend the landscapes and facilities on all city-owned property. This means a lot of mowing and edging as well as making sure parks are set up for events and activities. If you look around Burnet, you might be surprised at all of the property under the care of Wilson and her team.
“Any property that the city buys, we maintain it,” she said. “We’re everywhere. We work hard, and there are only eight of us. Only eight.”
As much as she is out and about and all over the city, it’s no wonder Wilson was chosen by The Picayune Magazine readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners as a Locals Love Us favorite city employee.
When she found out she won the award, she couldn’t believe it.
“I don’t look for praise like that,” Wilson said. “My enjoyment and my praise are how our parks and everything look. I take a lot of pride in that. I was very humbled, really.”
She points to her staff in the parks department for all of her success. She says they’re hard-working and dedicated and enjoy their jobs.
“I’ve got a great group of guys,” she said. “We’re a great team.”
