Melissa Fletcher aims to spread love and kindness to the Highland Lakes community through her job as assistant principal at Marble Falls Elementary School. Her efforts and dedication were noticed by The Picayune Magazine readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners, who voted her a Favorite School Administrator in the 2022 Locals Love Us awards.
“It’s a huge honor,” Fletcher said. “It’s crazy to think that people notice what I try to do. It really means the world that I was nominated.”
Fletcher has worked in the Marble Falls Independent School District for 16 years, spending the past five years as a school administrator. She was previously assistant principal at Colt Elementary, where she was voted Favorite School Administrator in the 2018 Locals Love Us awards.
The now-two-time award winner brought years of experience and a go-getter attitude with her when she transferred to Marble Falls Elementary School last year.
“I consider (the transition from Colt to Marble Falls) one of the best things that’s happened to me,” Fletcher said. “(I get to) do it all again at a different place while learning from others, using some tried-and-true things I’ve done before, and just doing the best I can.”
In her role at Marble Falls Elementary, Fletcher oversees various logistical duties necessary in keeping the school running smoothly. Whether she’s organizing the bus lines for student pickup, overseeing student discipline, or collaborating with fellow employees to create efficient strategies for success, she sprinkles kindness and generosity into each of her everyday tasks.
Fletcher hopes her contributions to the Highland Lakes community can motivate the children with whom she works to be the best versions of themselves now and in the future.
“There’s so much that can be done with love,” Fletcher said with a smile. “I hope my work is giving tools and strategies for students to shape their future to make their best selves later on in life.”
