Santa certainly has a heart for Christmas parades as he makes an appearance at each one across the Highland Lakes. In Burnet and Llano, he brings a little North Pole snow with him. Here’s where to find Santa—and the frosty stuff—this year.
CHRISTMAS PARADES
Hooves and Wheels Parade
6:30 p.m. Nov. 30
Main Street in downtown Johnson City
Johnson City’s annual lighted Christmas parade is in its 35th year. Enjoy an evening of illuminated floats, holiday cheer, and friendly competition. Judging of the parade entries begins at 5:30 p.m. This rain-or-shine event is a cherished holiday tradition in the hometown of the late President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Light-Up Parade
6 p.m. Dec. 6
Main Street in downtown Marble Falls
Kick off the holiday season in Marble Falls with its nighttime parade. Watch festive floats make their way down Main Street, spreading Christmas cheer. The parade leads to the entrance of the Walkway of Lights display at Lakeside Park.
Christmas on the Square parade
Noon Dec. 14
Downtown Burnet
Christmas on the Square is a full day of festivities, starting with a parade at noon. Held in the heart of downtown Burnet, this event promises holiday magic with floats, music, and a visit from Santa. Christmas on the Square features shopping, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
Lighted Christmas Parade
6 p.m. Dec. 7
Downtown Llano
Kris Kringle meets A Dickens of a Christmas in Llano. The parade is on the evening of the second day of the weekend festival, a tribute to Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” After the parade, head to Badu Park to walk the Starry, Starry Nights display.
SNOW FUN
Christmas on the Square Kids’ Zone
Noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 14
Downtown Burnet
This year’s Kids’ Zone has all new activities. The snow play area and slide are being replaced by train rides around the square, pony rides, a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall, and a three-person potato sack slide. You can enjoy a little bit of the cold, white stuff. A snow-blowing machine will be set up for “winter” photo-ops.
Llano Snow Day
2-6 p.m. Dec. 14
Badu Park, 300 Legion Drive in Llano
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, head to Llano. With the help of 35,000 pounds of ice, Badu Park transforms into a winter wonderland complete with a massive sledding hill. Wristbands are required, and sleds will be provided for kids of all ages to enjoy. Bundle up!
