The pretty. The warm. The delicious. Those were the menu items I requested while exploring gourmet coffeehouses in the Highland Lakes.
Baristas in Kingsland, Burnet, and Marble Falls crafted their establishment’s specialties, creating a display of tasty temptations that were shared with co-workers over a few days. The only complaint heard (faintly) was the timing of so many sweets available at once since everyone claimed to be watching their waistlines (and I don’t mean watching them expand).
After an intensive investigation, it is safe to say coffeehounds can’t go wrong when deciding which of these establishments to visit. Pictured are a speciality drink and sweet from each shop, but they all offer a wide variety, including cold coffees, drips, and espressos.
Some also serve smoothies, breakfast tacos, soups, and sandwiches. They all have free WiFi and are open to hosting business meetings and social gatherings, too.  Try each one and decide for yourself which is your favorite.
