Sights and sounds of the season

Stay in the holiday spirit all December with a variety of live entertainment in the Highland Lakes. High school band and choir concerts, ballets, musicals, and even a live radio play are part of a unique and exciting lineup in 2023. Here’s what you need to know to go.

“The Story of the Nutcracker”

Studio 29 Dance presents the Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” with the BHS Highlandettes performing the Snow Scene. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children.

Hill Country Community Theatre, 4003 FM 2147 in Cottonwood Shores

The nonprofit theater presents a full-length live radio play adapted from Frank Capra’s classic film of the same name. Five actors play all of the characters using live sound effects and period commercials in this 1940s-set play. Tickets are $27 for adults and $17 for youths plus applicable fees. “Feast of Carols” Madrigal dinner and concert

“Elf Jr. the Musical”

The church’s Reclaim Arts Academy performs this musical based on a movie. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at RedeemingTheArts.org or at the door. Ages 3 and younger get in free.

“The Gifts of Christmas”

Hill Country Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet

Harmony School of Creative Arts presents its annual holiday performance of the Christian version of “The Nutcracker” ballet. Tickets are $15 each and available at HarmonyArts.org or at the door.

This classic Christmas special makes it to the stage as the whole Peanuts gang shares the true meaning of the holiday. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and go on sale Nov. 15.
