COTTONWOOD SHORES — A lively local cast brought the world’s longest-running play, “The Mousetrap,” to life at the Hill Country Community Theatre in the spring and left an indelible mark on theater-goers.
The Picayune readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners voted it Locals Love Us favorite theater production in Cottonwood Shores.
“Agatha Christie is always a classic,” said Executive Director Mike Rademaekers of the production, which ran April 23-May 3, 2015. “The cast had a great time doing it. It was fun putting together the mystery.”
The ensemble cast included Glen Bird as Detective Sergeant Trotter, Wendy Ferrell as Miss Casewell, Holden Fox as Christopher Wren, Laura Gisi as Mollie Ralston, Joe Harrod as Mr. Paravicini, Randy L. Hilmer as Major Metcalf, Patrick Lescarbeau as Giles Ralston and Sally Stemac as Mrs. Boyle.
“When they’re having fun on stage, that translates to the audience,” Rademaekers said. “The audience picks up on that and has a lot of fun, too.”
The theater celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2016.
Those who frequent the facility said set design, direction, costumes, professionalism and the casts have cultivated its success.
Volunteers, loyal patrons and audiences also forged a creative environment boosted by their donations.
A wide variety of entertainment every season includes compelling dramas, side-splitting comedies and vibrant musicals.
“It’s fantastic when people support the local arts. We’ve been around for 30 years,” Rademaekers said. “What’s great is the community really loves us.”
The theater’s upcoming production “Dial M for Murder,” a suspenseful thriller, has performances through March 6 with showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2:15 p.m. Sundays at the theater, 4003 RR 2147 West.
