MARBLE FALLS — Though James Fry has only been a member of the city of Marble Falls’ Water Works Department for less than a year, he has made a big impression on residents.
So big, in fact, that Fry was voted Locals Love Us favorite city employee in the Marble Falls area by The Picayune readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners.
He was grateful for the honor, adding that his co-workers and fellow city employees also deserve the recognition.
“I like that people recognize what we do for this town, the hard work we put in every day and all night,” he said.
Fry, who is a 2013 graduate of Marble Falls High School, recalled a particular evening when he went to bed at 11:30 p.m. and received a call at 1 a.m. to head to Marble Falls High School.
One of the main sewer lines wasn’t working properly, so Fry and other members of the department went to work.
His day ended at 3 p.m.
Fry has continued to get certifications and other advanced training, which is a requirement to work in the department, he said.
While being singled out for honors is humbling, Fry said what motivates him is taking care of his family, particularly his 2-year-old son, and knowing residents can go about their day without giving a second thought to their water and wastewater.
So he accepted the honor, sharing it with his colleagues, and offered one sentiment to those who voted for him.
“Thank you,” he said.
