As a lifelong Burnet resident, Jeff Morris never really looked outside of the area for his calling. The biggest thing for the Burnet police officer is serving others, and if he can do that in the Burnet community, all the better.
That service began with the Texas Department of Transportation. For 13 years, he helped keep Burnet County roads safe for drivers and residents.
“I’ve always worked in public service,” Morris said. “I like helping people.”
That has not gone unnoticed by those he protects and serves, who picked him as their favorite Locals Love Us law enforcement officer in the Burnet area. The honor is voted on by The Picayune Magazine readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners.
While he could have stayed with TxDOT his entire career, Morris was drawn to law enforcement. He graduated from the police academy four years ago and joined the Burnet Police Department three years ago as a patrol officer. He has no intention of going elsewhere.
“This is a great community and place to live,” Morris said.
