Like any hardworking adult, occasionally I need to get away from it all and just relax. I made up my mind, blocked out my schedule for a long weekend and began to plan my vacation. I knew I wanted to stay on Lake LBJ. I didn’t want to stay in a hotel; I wanted to feel like I was in a home away from home. I chose to book through the family owned Front Desk Vacation Rentals. Among the rest, this one seemed to be the most authentic rental service.
FrontDeskVacationRentals.com has a collection of properties in Llano and Burnet County. They are all on Lake LBJ, and each property has its own unique quirks and amenities. One has a giant rock for cliff jumping. Another has a volleyball court on its waterfront lawn. One home even has a sandy beach! Many are pet friendly as well, which is a must for me. After perusing the website, I found the perfect vacation rental: Lookout Mountain. The booking process was so convenient; it took a few clicks and was finalized in 5 minutes.

As I entered the vacation home, I gasped. It’s so much more than a generic Hill Country retreat. The house was unbelievably clean, spacious and had the warmth of a rustic Texan home. From the porch, I had panoramic views of Lake LBJ and Lookout Mountain. Between swimming in the pool, splashing in the lake, boating, fishing and more, I could never run out of things to do there. The house became a welcome respite from the Texas heat. We lounged around the living room, made cocktails in the luxurious kitchen and had genuine conversations around the dining table.
The dock has electric lifts where I was able to stow our boat and seadoo throughout our stay. The location is at a perfect spot on Lake LBJ. Horseshoe Bay was a short ride away and we had quick access to both the Colorado and Llano River. At night, we grabbed our fishing rods and cast our lines under the moon. I couldn’t think of any better way to unwind.

The beds were so dreamy; it was hard not to oversleep. The master bedroom had an incredible view of the lake (I could definitely get used to it). The three guest bedrooms were just as nice. Don’t even get me started on the kids room: eight bunk beds lined each side of the room, submarine style. Stairs led to the top bunks instead of ladders. Next to each bed were outlets with built-in USB plugs so the kids could charge their devices. It was exceptionally classy for a kids room. If my family rented this place out when I was a kid, I would be beyond excited.

My favorite room in the entire house was the billiard’s room, where we played countless games of pool. It wasn’t the pool table or the dart board that made this room remarkable. It was the view. Located on the second story, the oversized windows offered a look at the lake and the untouched nature preserve across the way.

If I could describe my entire vacation rental experience in one word, it would be “relaxing.” I found exactly the peace and quiet I was looking for. I kicked back and watched the vibrant sunset. At night, I could see every star and constellation light up the sky. It was calming to listen to the water gently lap the seawall. The moments I spent on the porch are special to me, and I’ll look back on them when I’m stressed out at work.
My stay with Front Desk Vacation Rentals was unforgettable. I’ll be sure to suggest it for the next family reunion. The service has curated the perfect selection of homes on Lake LBJ — why wouldn’t you want to book with them?
