The Wakepoint Open is back on Lake LBJ Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, bringing two days of shredding, high-flying action to the Highland Lakes. Competitors from around the world will put on a show, with $46,000 in prizes on the line, but the event is totally free for spectators, and has something for everyone.

This is the second year of the competition, which will see professional and amateur wakeboarders descend on the Llano River arm of Lake LBJ in Kingsland.

The action is staged just north of the RM 2900 bridge on a glassy, wind-protected stretch of the Llano River. Spectators can pack a canopy and watch directly from the beach, anchor their own boats right up against the competitive pass, or park at Wakepoint LBJ and catch continuous water taxis and shuttle charters straight to the site all day long.

The daily competition flows directly into live music, food booths, vendors, and athlete meet-and-greets at Wakepoint basecamp. Arrive early on Saturday morning for a beachside “Sunrise Stretch” hosted by Red Bull.

Pulling in top tier global competitors from Japan, France, England, and Australia to battle alongside Texas locals, the open features a massive $46,000 total prize purse. This includes the high-stakes $25,000 single-winner Shoot Out where riders get one chance to stick four massive tricks behind industry-leading Nautique G23 towboats.
