The Castell General Store throws quite the ball on the third Saturday in May with the Testicle Festival. The 2025 event is May 17.
The festival centers on “calf fries” (you figure it out), but the less adventurous can chow down on catfish and other tasty food while competing in a washer-toss tournament and listening to live music.
Don’t let the event’s name deter you from bringing the whole family out to the bright yellow store at 19522 RR 152 West in Castell. There’s plenty to do for all ages, and the Llano River is just a stone’s throw away.
The music starts at 11:30 a.m., the calf fries hit the hot oil at noon, and washer pitching gets going at 1 p.m.
