Things are getting Western this weekend at the 2026 Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-off. Some of the best cooks this side of the Mississippi will be competing to see who can rustle up the best, authentic trail grub.
The event will see competitors set up along the banks of the Llano River in historically-accurate western wagons, using period-specific equipment to produce traditional dishes in five different categories: meat, beans, potatoes, bread, and dessert. They will also be judged on their wagon’s authenticity.
The cook-off is Saturday, April 4. Tickets are $30 and come with a meal. The big day will see the cooks judged, prizes handed out, a public meal, and live music. To get a ticket, call the Llano Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce at 325-247-5354 or visit in person at 100 Train Station Drive in Llano.
Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in their best Western attire.
