If you’ve contacted Llano City Hall in the last year or so, chances are you talked with Kim Wagner. As city secretary, she helps coordinate City Council meetings, keeps city records, sets up municipal elections, and acts as a bridge between residents and the local government.

“(City secretaries) are never off, ever,” she said. “There’s many, many hats to wear, but it’s easy because I like it.”

For that service, Wagner was voted Favorite City Employee in the 2024 Locals Love Us contest by The Picayune Magazine readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners.

Her dedication to community doesn’t stop at City Hall.

She’s also on the Llano County Hospital Authority Board and is a coach for the Llano County 4-H shotgun program.

“I grew up here. This is my town, and I want to help my town,” she told The Picayune Magazine.

At the heart of her love for Llano are her friends and neighbors.

“The people are great, we work together,” she said. “I love my kids being here. The charm of the city is just wonderful.”

While she is relatively new to the full-time role of city secretary, she has been a Llano city employee for the past eight years. Wagner worked her way up from utility clerk to assistant city secretary, deputy city secretary, interim city secretary, and, finally, city secretary in 2022.

She has three children: one at Llano High School, another at Llano Junior High School, and the youngest at Llano Elementary School. They are all athletes, cheerleaders, and big time into the county’s 4-H program.

Wagner expressed her gratitude to the people who voted for her in the Locals Love Us contest.

“It is an honor,” she said. “I was very surprised. Thank you so much.”
