Capt. Jimmy Cole of the Marble Falls Police Department‘s Central Investigations Division, has had a passion for kindly serving the community since he started working with the city in 2008.

“Treating people right goes a long way,” he said.

His drive to ensure Marble Falls is a safe and welcoming place for residents and visitors is why Cole was voted Favorite Law Enforcement Officer by The Picayune Magazine readers and KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune listeners in the 2024 Locals Love Us contest.

“I’m very proud and speechless, honestly,” he said. “I’m just a regular person.”

Cole came to Marble Falls directly from a police academy in San Antonio after a visit from now-Capt. Robert Talamantes.

“He came and gave a speech that Marble Falls was hiring,” Cole said. “I really liked it. He asked if anyone wanted applications. I raised my hand. And before I finished the academy, I was given a conditional job offer.”

He’s been with the MFPD ever since.

“It feels like I’ve been here forever,” Cole said. “I like everything about it. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t be here.”

The 16-year policing veteran was promoted to the role of Central Investigations Division captain in 2023. The new job has created new responsibilities for Cole.

“They’re all-encompassing,” he said. “I check reports, answer any questions, and investigate crimes. I’m also a firearms instructor for new officers. Really, I do just a little bit of everything.”

Cole has enjoyed learning the ins and outs of his new post.

“I’ve only known the street and patrol,” he said. “This is something that’s totally brand new to me, so I have a whole new set of skills that I have to learn.”

Regardless of what his job entails, keeping the community safe will remain Cole’s top objective.

“My ultimate goal in police work, and something we at the department focus on, is treating everyone right,” he said.
