Say "seafood" in the Highland Lakes, and you also have to include freshwater catches, particularly catfish, although some restaurants have great trout, shrimp, and other offerings.

The lunch menu, served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday, includes fried popcorn shrimp, jumbo shrimp and trout plates, a shrimp po'boy sandwich, and gumbo.
At dinner, which runs until 8 p.m., appetizers include snow crab legs, oysters on the half-shell, charbroiled oysters, wild-caught crab cakes, and fried crawfish, among other delicious options. An extensive soups and salad menu includes shrimp gumbo and a chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage gumbo.
Along with a great lineup of fried seafood, a speciality menu offers po'boys, fish tacos, crawfish étouffée, pastas, grilled fish (rainbow trout and mahi-mahi), Norwegian salmon, Baffin Bay-caught drum, and wild-caught jumbo shrimp.

Here, saltwater meets freshwater for a wide variety of fish dishes. Doc’s fresh catch of the day goes straight from the water to the kitchen, where diners can have it chargrilled, blackened, baked, or fried.
Throw in beef for surf-and-turf combinations with lobster, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped scallops. Shrimp can be enjoyed fried, grilled, or blackened and served diablo, tropical, or buffalo style.
