The Highland Lakes offers lots of trail-running opportunities.

One of the premier locations is Reveille Peak Ranch, which boasts miles and miles of trails for beginner to experienced.

More than 7 miles of running trails also can be found at the Lower Colorado River Authority’s Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area, 2820 CR 414 in Spicewood. Call 512-473-3366.

Inks Lake State Park, 3630 Park Road 4 West in Burnet County, has a network of trails worth exploring at a nice pace. Jog the backcountry of Pedernales Falls State Park, 2585 Park Road 6026 near Johnson City, or Colorado Bend State Park in Bend. 

In town, check out the Marble Falls hike-and-bike trail system linking Johnson and Westside Parks or Manzano’s Hike, Bike & Run Trail in Granite Shoals. The trail was named after Olympic silver medalist Leonel Manzano, a former resident of Granite Shoals and a Marble Falls High School graduate.
