Drink in fall’s beauty and bounty at four October trail runs in the Highland Lakes. Two are odes to autumn, while the other two toast local beers and wines with Halloween themes.

Up first on Oct. 4 is the Autumn Harvest event at the Lower Colorado River Authority’s Turkey Bend Recreation Area on Lake Travis near Marble Falls. Choose from a marathon, half-marathon, 12-hour ultra, 10-kilometer run, or 5K. All options wind through a trail saturated in fall colors and soothed by tranquil waters. The courses feature moderate elevation changes and single-track and wider paths.
The longer races start in the morning but trail into the harvest moonlit night (headlamps needed).
