MARBLE FALLS — Though it’s Erika O’Connor’s first year as the principal at Colt Elementary School, the community has already noticed her impact.
That’s why The Picayune readers voted her as their Best School Administrator in the Marble Falls area in the Locals Love Us contest.
“Oh, my, I can’t believe it,” O’Connor said. “I think I’m going to cry. It’s just so incredible.”
O’Connor isn’t a new face to the district. She began teaching fifth grade for Marble Falls Independent School District in 1995. She spent 18 years teaching at Marble Falls schools before taking the step into administration.
After a short stint as the Bertram Elementary School assistant principal, O’Connor applied for the top spot at Colt and got it. She took over last summer.
“This is where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to be doing,” she said.
O’Connor was quick to spread the accolades.
“I work with some amazing people,” she said. “Every day, they come to work ready and just wanting to do the best for the kids. I think we really love out the Marble Falls school district mission.
“I am humbled by this recognition and I want to thank everyone who voted for me,” she added. “I couldn't do what I do here without my supportive staff here at Colt Elementary
