The first-ever Wildflowers & Wellness Festival is April 5-6 in Johnson City’s historic Old Lumber Yard, 209 E. Main St. It combines feel-good blooms with good-for-you products and practices.

The two-day event features live music, children’s activities, a vendor market, a sip-and-paint workshop, and local businesses selling wildflower-themed products and menu items.

The Science Mill is hosting a festival kickoff event April 4 from 4-6 p.m. with special guest Dennis Fagan, a longtime friend and primary photographer of Lady Bird Johnson, wife of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was instrumental in an effort to beautify LBJ’s native Texas Hill Country by growing wildflowers along the highways.

The Science Mill event includes a question-and-answer session with Fagan, who has won national and international awards for his photography. Admission is free, but RSVPs are requested at sciencemill.org.

The Wildflower & Wellness Festival is hosted in partnership by the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, Proof & Cooper, and June Bloom Lavender.
