A major wave hits the Highland Lakes on Aug. 15-17 as Lake LBJ welcomes the inaugural Wakepoint Open presented by NXTLVL Marine. The premier wakeboarding and wakesurfing competition is a high-energy weekend of elite riding, live music, lakeside action, and cash prizes of over $40,000.
It takes place at Wakepoint LBJ, 14757 RR 1431 in Kingsland.
The 2025 kickoff event is set to attract watersports athletes from around the world and fans from near and far. Limited spots are open to competitors via the World Wake Association.
“This is more than just a (competition), it’s the start of something big,” said organizer Brady Westlund in a media release announcing the event. “The Wakepoint Open is where Central Texas shows out and the next chapter in wake culture begins.”
Designed as both a spectator experience and an athlete showcase, the Wakepoint Open will feature professional and amateur divisions in both wakeboarding and wakesurfing and include a $20,000 shootout that promises to raise the bar for Texas watersports competition.
Spectators can expect high-flying action, live music, local flavor, and laid-back lakeside hangs—all with a front-row seat to the gnarliest riding of the summer.
The event seeks to make a home in the Highland Lakes of the Texas Hill Country, said NXTLVL Marine’s Blake Flanagan.
“We’re blending action sports, music, and Hill Country hospitality to create an iconic event with staying power,” he promised.
Fans arriving by car or boat (tie-ups available) can watch the action on the spectator beach or a livestream while enjoying food, beverages, and more inside Wakepoint LBJ. Learn more about the 2025 Wakepoint Open on its website.
