Plein-air artists will Paint the Town during the 2025 competition and festival April 6-12 in Marble Falls.

The invited competitors will span out across the city to capture its unique character and scenic beauty on canvas. Plein air is French for “open air,” so you’ll have an excellent view of the artists at work. You might even be able to purchase their masterpieces at a pop-up gallery, which is open April 10-12 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive.

Paint the Town Festival is a Highland Lakes Creative Arts event. And it’s not just for the serious artist. Anyone can grab a brush and enter the Quick-Draw Competition on April 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the pavilion. It’s free to registered Paint the Town competitors and student artists and $15 for everyone else. Sign up at the link.

Family Art Day is also April 12 at the pavilion. Free art activities for all ages take place from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Express yourself with watercolors, acrylics, and finger and bubble painting.

Artists in training can pre-register for Student Art Day, which is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 9 at Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Drive. Groups of students will be matched with a competing artist to learn the plein-air technique.

At The Artist’s Lounge, which is April 11 from 5:30-9 p.m. in the pavilion, VIP guests will get the first viewing of the winning paintings in the plein-air competition and maybe even purchase one in a silent auction. Enjoy food, wine, beer, and live music.
