COTTONWOOD SHORES — The thing about winning a Locals Love Us award, according to Mike Rademaekers, is exactly that: the locals.
“That’s the thing I learned the most when I first got here, is how much the community really really loves this theater,” said Rademaekers, executive director of the Hill Country Community Theatre. “It’s very appropriate; it’s the ‘Locals Love Us’ because it’s so true.”
The theater won two awards in the Llano area: Favorite Club and Favorite Theater Production.
Rademaekers seemed a little surprised the HCCT won for Favorite Club, seeing as the theater does not have a club.
“We have a membership of supporters that we call our membership,” he explained. “Some theaters have an ensemble or what they call an acting troupe. We don’t really have that here.
“It’s not a clique; it’s totally open for new people to come join us,” Rademaekers said. “We encourage people to come and get involved. It’s a lot of fun here.”
To get involved, go to www.thehcct.org or call (830) 693-2474.
