The Hill Country Community Theatre has mastered laugh-inducing comedy and this talent shines in Ken Ludwig’s “Lend Me a Tenor.” The third production of season 40, despite its name, is not a musical but a laugh-out-loud comedy performed by a cast of eight. The show runs February 6-22.
The show, set in the 1930s, is a classic farce which follows a world-famous opera star set to perform in a Cleveland opera. A late arrival, an over-medication, mistaken identity, slamming doors, and romantic chaos fuel the fire for the hilarity that ensues. “Lend Me A Tenor” is a fast-paced, high-energy comedy loaded with physical humor. The show is rated PG-13 for a few adult situations.
The HCCT cast, directed by guest director Pierre Minjauw, includes Randi Minijauw as Maggie, Jordan Jones as Max, Kirsten Neiman as Diana, P.J. Theberg as Tito Mirelli, Christine Jones as Maria Mirelli, Bill Noyer as Saunders, Mia Richardson as Julia, and Tanner Clackley as the Bellhop.
The Opening Night Gala, Friday, Feb. 6, features complimentary food and drinks at 6:30 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. curtain. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at the theatre’s website or by calling the box office at 830-798-8944.
